Why is your CV important?

Your CV is a business case for why you should be interviewed for the job.

In your CV you have to explicitly pitch yourself as the best candidate. You can neither be modest nor expect a recruiter to read between the lines.

A strong CV will get you in front of more recruiters, get you more interviews and land you your dream job.

You will use your CV as the basis for all application forms and your LinkedIn profile, so it's essential to get it right and keep it up to date.

'Emily, Thank you so much for the invaluable time we spent together working through my CV.

I have to admit I was a little daunted having not updated it since 2009 but you made it all so easy

and I now have a CV to be proud of and more importantly a new job because of it!'

Read my blog about what I learnt after reviewing 15 CVs back in 2020.

I've since worked on many more CVs, supporting people in almost every industry, and these reflections are still 100% relevant.

My approach for CVs

You'll send me your CV and details of any roles you're applying for.

We'll then speak on the phone or Zoom so I can fully understand your career and job search goals.

I’ll then return your CV with my workings and any gaps that I need your help filling.

We might also create a cover letter template to compliment your CV.

It’s a fully collaborative process and we work together to create a brilliant new CV that you're proud to share.

My approach for Interviews

First we'll celebrate you getting the interview! It's so important to acknowledge getting shortlisted.

We'll review your application and anticipate what the interview questions might be.

We'll consider your key strengths and the areas for development you need to be ready to respond to.

We'll discuss how you can demonstrate your soft behavioural skills as well as your technical skills and knowledge.

We'll put all your experience into stories to ensure your answers are succinct and compelling.

We'll also talk about what you're going to wear and how you're going to present yourself - often overlooked.

I can also be on hand for a pre interview pep talk.

Your investment

1:1 CV and interview support packages start from £60 an hour, with a minimum commitment of two hours.

I’ll keep a time sheet to ensure we make the most of our time together and keep to your budget.

But don't just take my word for it...

'Emily, I just wanted to thank you for our session yesterday. It was so helpful and I keep thinking back to it.

It’s made me really happy and I feel a sense of relief to have found you.

I’ve had such a rough time at work over the last year and been in a really low place. Thank you!'

'I have already begun work on making every sentence active and inserting examples of impact rather than simply outcome.

Your thoughts and questions were just what I needed and have given me a renewed sense of confidence about my job search, thank you.'
