Let me be your cheerleader

October is a funny month. Not funny ha ha, just funny, strange. A no man’s land.

The bit between the long days of summer and long nights of winter. Schools are back in full swing(ish). We still have a few weeks until half term. For many it’s way too early to think about Christmas.

My five year diary is reminding me I do new things in October.

Last year I was planning and marketing a new set of workshops as well as going sober. Alas the second aspiration only lasted a week but the workshops in November went brilliantly well.

In 2018, my diary tells me I declared it ‘My Month With Ted’, when I committed to watching a Ted talk a day to open up my world and take in some new perspectives.

I clearly like time-based activities and I feel it’s time for another.

We’re living through a really rough time. Since March we have been asked to live our lives in a way that none of us ever imagined. We stayed at home and put rainbows in our windows. We clapped every Thursday on our doorsteps. Our children were home schooled and the roads fell silent. We learnt what the word furlough meant.

This October my priority is to be more useful and when thinking about how this might manifest I realised that I want to share something that is easy for me that others might find difficult. Something that is in my zone of genius.

I’m brilliant at bigging other people up when they don’t have the courage or the words to say it themselves. I also love copy editing. I’ve shortlisted, interviewed, recruited and managed successful teams. I’m now an experienced coach and have helped numerous people with their career transformations. I’m the ultimate cheerleader.

My offer is to review ten CVs in October. First come, first served. Totally free.

Having an up to date and memorable CV is a small but important step in the job seeking process. It means you’re ready to pounce on the next opportunity that comes your way. It means you can be proactive when a role isn’t being advertised. And having someone impartial review, listen and help you take some positive action feels like the least I can do.

My support will be tailored and will most definitely include a full proof read and review of your existing content and layout. We might then rework your personal statement, flesh out your experience or add in some highlights. You’ll come away with both a new CV and a greater self confidence in your extraordinary talents.

So if you, or someone you know, is furloughed, out of work, in work but looking to move, looking for new work but having no luck, been made redundant or just ready for a change all you have to do is send your CV to hello@emilybal.co.uk and we can get started. Easy as that.

Visualisation and manifestation are really powerful mindset tools. If you can see what you want every day then, subconsciously, things will start to happen. A vision board gets your ideas, dreams and aspirations out of your head and brings them to life in full technicolour.
