Make affirmations work for you
Affirmations. Some people love them. Others less so. I’m a fan. Mostly because they’re harmless, cost nothing and have huge potential.
An affirmation is simply a positive statement. An assertion that something is true. It should inspire and motivate you and attract what you want.
You see we don’t talk to ourselves very nicely. We say much more positive things to our friends, colleagues and pets and that needs to change. That little voice inside our head isn’t rational. It’s the ancient part of our brain that is trying to keep us safe from harm. It isn’t go anywhere so we have to learn how to manage it.
Which is where affirmations come in.
My house is full of them. Little messages my family and I see every day that are subconsciously working their magic.
So if this week looks like it might be a challenge, you want to change something or feel a little more optimistic then create your own affirmation. What have you got to lose?
Write it down morning and evening. Before every meeting. Say it out loud every time you boil the kettle or in your head while brushing your teeth. And then notice what you notice.
My affirmation for this week is ‘I will stay calm even in the midst of chaos’ - what’s yours?
